Tackling tough issues in our community is made easier when organizations work together with a common purpose. A great example of this is happening locally through the Thurston Coalition for Women’s Health. The Thurston Coalition for Women’s Health is a group of 18 organizations who are working to raise the visibility of the complex issue of violence within our community. This summer they launched a social media infographic campaign to spread the message that relationship violence is too common and that healthy relationships matter.

Using local statistics, the infographics show the many forms of violence that area youth and adults are experiencing. The figures are startling. Ultimately, the goal of the effort is to raise awareness and share the message that help is available. You can view and download the infographics at the Thurston Coalition for Women’s Health webpage. If you are on Facebook or Twitter, consider participating by sharing them with your friends and followers.

Members of the Thurston Coalition for Women’s Health include: Boys & Girls Clubs of Thurston County, CareNet Pregnancy Center of Thurston County, CHOICE Regional Health Network, Community Action Council, Community Youth Services, Family Education and Support Services, Family Support Center, Providence St. Peter Hospital, SafePlace, Saint Martin’s University, Sea Mar Community Health Centers, South Sound Breastfeeding Network, Stonewall Youth, Thurston County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, Thurston County Public Health & Social Services Department, TOGETHER!, United Way of Thurston County, and YWCA of Olympia.
