Color might be one of the last aspects of Amanda McCavour’s work that registers on an intellectual level. It is soft, delightful, and hopeful – appropriate for the season.

But it is the captivating quality of line becoming form, becoming space, that initially draws one through the doors and deep into The Gallery at the Kenneth J. Minnaert Center for the Arts.

The entire exhibition is made of sewn thread, undoubtedly miles and miles of it. Representations of flowers, desks, chairs, and animal portraits, among other things, hang suspended from the ceiling. The hundreds of flowers dance in the slightest breeze created by passersby, while the reflective quality of the gallery’s tile floor mirrors the movement from below. This is a must see exhibition happening right here in Olympia.

The Gallery at the Kenneth J Minnaert Center for the Arts is located on the campus of SPSCC. The Gallery is open Monday through Friday from noon to 4:00 p.m., excluding holidays.
