Ten years ago, a desire to offer everything from preventive eye care to the most advanced surgical procedures available — all under one roof — was realized with the opening of Clarus Eye Centre’s new 18,000-square-foot facility at the corner of College Street and 3rd Avenue in Lacey.

Today that vision continues to be realized in Clarus’ state-of-the-art eye care center, which has helped tens of thousands of people — young and old — see their world more clearly.

“It’s been personally rewarding for me, and for Clarus doctors and staff members, to see the positive impact this eye care center has had on the community at large,” said Dr. Jay Rudd, one of Clarus’ founders. “We have been able to introduce advanced techniques and technologies that have provided life-changing options for better, clearer vision.”

The physicians at Clarus Eye Centre are dedicated to helping all patient achieve a better quality of life through improving their vision.

“At the same time, we have worked hard to make other contributions to our community, like our optical center’s annual car show that has brought in over $10,000 for cancer care and research over the past decade,” said Rudd. “Our staff and doctors really enjoy being out in the communities we serve.”

Clarus employs more than 70 ophthalmologists, optometrists, technicians and clerical staff at its conveniently located facility in Lacey. The Laser and Surgery Centre features the CATALYS Femtosecond Laser that delivers more precise and customized results using laser technology.

Laser cataract surgery has revolutionized eye surgery with faster recoveries and even better outcomes for our cataract patients,” said Dr. Stephen Reck, one of Clarus’ surgeons and co-owners. “Most patients are surprised to learn they can resume daily activities within hours of their surgery.”

Clarus began its move from their previous Lilly Road eye care center in February 2006 with the opening of their surgery center. The facility was fully integrated to provide all levels of care in 2008. Clarus provides routine and preventive eye care for all ages. Specialized care is offered for eye conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, retinal disease, and blade-free LASIK.

Clarus Optical offers one of the widest selections of eyewear and contacts in Southwest Washington. “For those who prefer eye glasses or contacts to improve their vision, there are some really great options to help you see clearer — and with style,” said Dr. Chad Waggoner, an optometrist and co-owner of Clarus Optical.
