Allen Starkey and Eddie Nelson, owners of the Olympia Furniture Company, are well known in the Olympia area as industry experts in furniture, huge Seattle Seahawks fans, and dedicated supporters of local charitable causes. They revel in supporting the 12th man with a Seattle Seahawk display in the store as well as ensuring the game is being played on one of their televisions on game day.

Familiar with charitable giving, every year the business owners have organized school supply collection drives for the Little Red Schoolhouse and a toy drive for Toys for Tots. Now for the first time, they are bringing together their love for the Seahawks and passion to help local charities.

On Tuesday, January 26 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., the Olympia Furniture Company will be hosting Seattle Seahawks wide receiver, Ricardo Lockette, during an autograph signing and charity coat drive.  Tickets must be purchased in advance and cost $50.

Lockette and the Olympia Furniture Company are teaming together to collect coats for the Family Renewal Shelter. The Olympia Furniture Company will be accepting donations of new and gently used coats and new socks for women, teens and children until the event on January 26. Donations can be delivered directly to the store and currently are being placed in a big recliner box that is nearly half full.

The Family Renewal Shelter (FRS) offers a wide variety of services to those who are abused through domestic violence. Since 1986, FRS has provided a confidential shelter and programs for those at the highest risk of domestic violence in order to provide the necessities of safety and life to victims and their children to get them out of immediate harm’s way. Not only does FRS supply basic emergency services but also successful programs that have helped thousands of women and children secure safety, independence and opportunities toward peaceful and productive new lives.

“Donating new or gently used coats and new socks for women, teens and children is a simple yet critical way to help those in desperate need at the Family Renewal Shelter – families coming out of violent households into the shelter. People can drop off donations any time the store is open or bring their items to the Ricardo Lockette signing event,” explains Starkey.

Tickets are required to participate in the Ricardo Lockette autograph signing event and charity coat drive. Only 100 tickets will be sold and are $50 per person. The Olympia Furniture Company will open its doors at 6:00 p.m. for the event, which will also include Seahawk raffle items, as well as snacks and refreshments. Autographs will be limited to one item per person and the Olympia Furniture Company will provide a photographer.
