Johnny Carr, a full-time soldier with the United States Army, along with his wife and two young daughters have had to make sacrifices over the years as Johnny deployed to Afghanistan. Heather manages the home front while Johnny is away serving his country.

The Nisqually River has eroded more than 60 feet of the Carr family home.

On Wednesday, December 16, 2015, their lives were turned upside down when the Nisqually River eroded 60-feet of their property, taking with it all the trees and vegetation that was holding the river back.

Now the family has been directed to evacuate the home. Their dream of building a life together along the Nisqually River in rural Thurston County will no longer be a reality. The County has yellow tagged the home, meaning they are authorized to enter the structure for brief period of time in order to retrieve personal belongings, but they will not be able to reoccupy the home.

Johnny and Heather Carr, pictured with their two young daughters, have been forced to leave their home due to Nisqually River erosion.

A crowd funding campaign has been organized on behalf of the family to raise funds for mortgage relief. The homeowners insurance does not cover flooding, and since they are outside a regulated floodplain, the lending institution did not require food coverage on the property.
