Behind the scenes of every great company is a team of passionate employees. At Awesome RV, this is especially true. Each and every staff member at the dealership’s Olympia and Chehalis locations work hard to ensure customers receive quality care every time they step onto the lot or visit the dealership’s service center. For these staffers, it’s not a requirement of the job, it’s a privilege that comes with the territory.
However, at the core of this team are three key players. They are the rest of the staff’s support system, and they work day in and day out to ensure that all components of the dealership work like a well-oiled machine. This dedicated trio is comprised of Awesome RV’s Operations Manager, Steve Lux; Service Manager, Jim Jussila; and Parts Manager, Clayton Webb.
Steve Lux got his start in the RV industry back in 1986 and came to Awesome RV — then Uhlmann RV — back in 1990. Over the past 25 years, Steve has served as the dealership’s service manager, parts manager and service director before donning the prestigious title of operations manager earlier last year.
Steve has built his career around the RV industry, and he says he’s grateful to work for what he considers to be the best RV store in the Pacific Northwest. For Steve, it’s his co-workers and the customers that make coming into work every day such a pleasure. “The RV industry has been very satisfying to me,” says Steve. “I’m happy to be a part of this organization, and I wouldn’t change a thing.”
When Steve’s not at Awesome RV, he enjoys spending time with his wife and 23-year-old son and volunteering at the fire station, where he has been a volunteer fireman, captain and deputy chief for the past 30 years.
Jim Jussila doesn’t have 25 years under his belt yet, but he’s close. For the past 21 years, Jim has been installing hitches, wiring trucks and fulfilling all of his customer’s RV serving needs — although, he didn’t start out there.
Jim got his humble start in cars when Awesome RV was still called Uhlmann RV. However, his talents were quickly recognized and within a year he found himself tackling a variety of tasks, which included working on RVs.
Today, Jim is a Master Certified RV Technician who prides himself in building positive customer relationships and using his industry knowledge and expertise to answer even their toughest questions.
“When I can erase the skepticism created by a customer’s previous experience at another repair facility and earn a customer for life, those are the most rewarding things to me,” says Jim.
When Jim’s not servicing other people’s RVs, he likes to enjoy spending time with his family in their own recreational vehicle. “We have a motor home and we love to go to the Oregon Dunes. We like to see how many toys we can pack into the enclosed trailer, hitch up, and head out to play,” says Jim. “My son is 5 and my daughter is 2; they keep my wife and I young.”
Alongside Steve and Jim, Clayton Webb, Awesome RV’s parts manager, can also be found hard at work. Like Jim, Clayton did not get his start working with RVs, but after a stint detailing cars and working on the sales floor, Steve found his niche in the service department. He assumed the position of parts manager earlier last year.
Like Steve and Jim, it’s interacting with customers that he enjoys the most. “The thing I get a kick out of is people walking in the door and saying hi to me by name,” he says. Clayton says when you’ve been with the same company for so long, building long-term customer relationships is natural part of the job.
Clayton calls Awesome RV his second home. “It’s a good place to work and the vast majority of the people who work here have been here for several years,” he says. Working in this kind of environment makes co-workers feel more life family, and for this, Steve, Jim and Clayton are all grateful.
