The 2014 Bike Games winners celebrate motorcycle dexterity at the Quinault Beach Resort and Casino.

“Driving a motorcycle is like flying. All your senses are alive.” Actor Hugh Laurie could just as easily be describing a Pacific Northwest summer, especially when spent at one of our many gorgeous beaches.

This summer, the Quinault Beach Resort and Casino is more than an easy, fun daytrip. Whether by bike or car, it’s an easy 90-minute drive from Olympia to Ocean Shores, made perfect by our run of sunny days and clear, cool nights.

The weekend of July 24-26 is their 14th annual Hog Wild Weekend featuring music, food, vendors, and motorcycle events galore. Whether you prefer to show off your bike, sign up for races throughout Ocean Shores, or shop for gear and accessories, there’s something for everyone and every bike.

Don’t have a bike of your own? Playing table games in the casino, hotel stays and restaurant meals, or simply enjoying spa services can earn tickets for a grand prize drawing held Sunday, July 25 at 5:00 p.m. for a 2016 Indian Dark Horse motorcycle.

For those who prefer to keep two feet on the ground instead of two wheels, there will be free concerts and activities throughout the weekend. Randy Burke and his team from Reno’s Roadshows, Inc have hosted this event for the past three years. During this time they’ve worked closely with Quinault Beach to ensure the event is “entertainment on a national level; we try to bring it up a little more every year.”

Musically, Hog Wild features four amazing bands from across the country. “We wanted to give folks the opportunity to see real, quality entertainment,” explains Burke. These include Seattle’s own Hell’s Belles, California’s L.A. Guns, Northwest natives Corey Daniels Band, and Reno-based Valentine Rodeo.

Quinault Beach Resort and Casino will host the Hog Wild Weekend June 24 – 26.

On Saturday, registered bikers can enjoy the Poker Run, a five stop, 45-mile ride through Ocean Shores which visits local restaurants, bars, produce markets, and shops. More than just a sightseeing trip, participants will earn rewards and prizes as they enjoy the ride.

Need to stretch your legs after the ride? Simms Custom Cycles, from Hayward California, will be on site with two dozen display bikes, often referred to as ‘Rolling Rembrandts.’ These rare, custom pieces can sell for as much as $80,000 and would make a perfect addition to your Christmas list. Shoppers looking for smaller stocking stuffers can explore the 20+ on site vendors, double last year’s sellers.

If the glare of sun on chrome gets too much, rest your eyes on what Burke describes as “the A-team of the International Bikini Team.” These models travel the country making appearances at such notable motorcycle destinations as Daytona Beach, Florida and the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota.

VIP Packages are available to event-goers for only $60 and include an official t-shirt and pin, buffet dinner on Friday, Saturday BBQ feast, entry in the Poker Run and Walk as well as ride-in show, 3 day VIP bike parking and concert seating, bike game entry, and bonus prize entries for new Q-Club Members.

Don’t worry if you party too hard. On Sunday, July 26 from 8:00 a.m. until noon, there will be a Hog Wild Hangover Breakfast Buffet to steady your stomach before the big prize drawing that afternoon.

Nicolette Shanklin, Creative Marketing Coordinator for Quinault Beach, sums it up: “Hog Wild is 3 days of fun, excitement, music, food, vendors and beautiful northwestern scenery all right at the beach, great people, lots to watch, lots to do—a bikers beach haven.” With nearly 1,000 visitors a day and $120,000 in cash and prizes up for grabs, your staycation could become a true play-cation.

You can register for the event online here or by calling Quinault Beach at 888-461-2214. Don’t forget to ask about booking a room or staying in their adjoining campground.
