Providence ministries in Southwest Washington will join The Evergreen State College, Olympia School District, Thurston County and Intercity Transit to recognize Earth Day, April 22, with a Dim Down from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

“We are excited to partner with others in the community on Earth Day,” said Providence Sustainability Coordinator Keith Edgerton. “We have a long tradition of sustainability within Providence here in Southwest Washington.”

Along with the partner organizations, Providence will be asking caregivers who are not using their electronic devices during the lunchtime hours on April 22 to turn off:

  • Computers
  • Lights
  • Printers
  • Other electronic devices

“We all can make the Earth healthier and help save money by being aware of how much of our resources we use daily,” said Edgerton. “Providence has won a number of awards in recent years for sustainability. We have seen the financial benefit from all of these sustainable projects but are most proud of the community benefits that come from creating less pollution and saving our resources for future generations.“

Providence Health & Services in Southwest Washington touches more lives in Thurston, Mason, Lewis, Grays Harbor and Pacific counties than any other health care provider. It is made up of Providence St. Peter Hospital, Providence Centralia Hospital and the 31 clinics of the Providence Medical Group. More than 3,500 caregivers work for Providence in Southwest Washington.
