Through April 26, Bayview and Ralph’s Thriftway stores are featuring their packaged coffee on sale.

T.S. Eliot may have measured out his life in coffee spoons, but here in the Northwest we prefer mugs…big ones.

It’s been reported that “coffee, as a world commodity, is second only to oil.” It fuels our days, brightens our spirits, and warms our hands. In this region, we import, roast, drink, and celebrate coffee like nowhere else.

A longtime source of all things fresh, local, and yummy, the Storman’s family of stores is hosting a packaged coffee sale to showcase the best beans around. Olympia’s Ralph’s and Bayview Thriftway will host their first annual Local Coffee Sale through April 26.

Sabrina Cambern, Storman’s Bulk Foods Manager, explains that the event is to “celebrate our local coffee roasters, who all do such an amazing job!” There will be coffee demonstrations and tastings throughout the promotion and a $1 discount off all bags of coffee with a $.25 credit to your ThrifteCard wallet for every bag purchased.

The event’s featured brands include Raven’s Brew Coffee from Tumwater, Vashon Island Coffee Roasterie, Fog Woman Coffee from Bainbridge Island, Olympia Coffee Roasting Company, Batdorf and Bronson Coffee Roasters, Caffe Vita Coffee Roasting Company, and—at the Bayview location only—Moka Joe coffee from Anacortes.

Coffee is also sold at both Thriftway stores in bulk.  Bulk buying is a great, green way to shop for everyday staples. Cambern stresses that “we have a full bulk set at both stores that everyone should definitely check out; it’s a great way to save money and waste less. About the coffee, I encourage everyone to try and buy coffee locally…you won’t regret it. All the coffees are fair trade, local companies, and 100% Arabica beans. You’ll find lots of variety and character in every cup.”

Just for coffee alone, studies show that “20,000,000 pounds of foil packaging could be avoided if all Americans bought coffee from the bulk bin.” No matter what you require, there’s probably a Thriftway bulk bin that meets or exceeds your expectations.

Coffee is a must-have in most households. Whether your end results are frothy, cold, hot, or sweet these tiny beans make any day better. Many households have their go-to blend, brand, or roast but why not use this sale to sample others? Sample beans from across the region while picking up eggs, milk, and apples. The Thriftway housewares department also offers an assortment of brewing options; explore their drip, French Press, and cold brew equipment.

Visit Ralph’s Thriftway at 1908 East Fourth and Bayview Thriftway at 516 West Fourth in Olympia. To benefit from the ThrifteCard rewards program, sign up online here and simply shop for everyday purchases. You’ll receive special offers and credit that spends like cash in-store.
