Eggs filled with candy, coupons, and prizes are hidden throughout Ralph’s and Bayview Thriftway.

They say that Easter is the only time it’s good to put all your eggs in one basket – especially if said eggs hold chocolate, prizes, and coupons for free groceries.

The annual Easter Egg Hunts at Ralph’s and Bayview Thriftway will take place on consecutive Saturdays in March. Bayview will host the event on March 21 and Ralph’s will take place on March 28. Both mad dashes begin at 10:30 a.m. with children lining up by age and sent through the store in timed intervals. In 2014, between 50-75 families attended and had a treat-fueled blast.

Kids 10 and under should bring their own basket or bag for collecting and arrive early. Lines for the Easter Egg Hunt are often long but well worth the wait. Previous years egg prizes have included candy, coins, coupons for treats from the store, and small toys.

The Easter Egg Hunt will be broken down into groups and prizes appropriate for 0-3, 4-6, and 7-10 age groups. After collecting eggs, families can join in the cake walk with prizes ranging from cakes and fudge to even a snowboard at the Bayview location.

For parents, these event days also host special grocery sales around the store, samples to while away the time, and on-site coffee stands should your peace of mind start to slip.

One of the wizards behind the scenes for this event is Specialty Food and Candy Manager Robin Audet. She has a passion for local, seasonal candies and treats and has spent almost 11 years with the Thriftway family making sure they carry only the yummiest products.

Kids should bring their own bucket to the annual Storman’s Easter Egg Hunt extravaganza.

The Thriftway stores are known for making their events unique, all-ages fun. Whether it’s turkey bowling at Thanksgiving, the annual Olympia’s Next Top Chef competition, or just help making your party as good as one of theirs, they’ve got you covered.

Not sure if this event is for you? Check out the YouTube video of last year’s Easter Egg Hunt here. It’s a peppy, spring-in-your-step way to get everyone geared up for the big day.

Philosopher Bernard Williams was right when he said “the day the Lord created hope was probably the same day he created Spring.” This year’s balmy weather, early flowering cherry blossoms, and gorgeous sunny days are hopeful sign of a beautiful season. Celebrate with family, friends, and the small business community; you’ll be glad you did.

Ralph’s Thriftway is located at 1908 East 4th and Bayview is 516 West 4th. Their list of current events, specials, classes, and cooking tips can be found at www.olythriftway.com.
