Christina Pennella of Olympia served as a page in the Washington State Senate during the week of Jan. 12.  Lt. Gov. Brad Owen sponsored Christina’s weeklong experience in the Legislature.

“It was a pleasure to sponsor Christina this week,” said Lt. Gov. Owen. “She is a positive person and hardworking student.”

During the week pages assist senators and staff, attend lectures with guest speakers and go to page school where they create their own bills in a mock committee setting.

Pennella said the best part of the page program was being in the middle of all the action. “It was a really fun opportunity to be in the mix of things,” said Pennella. “It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity to work with all these important people.”

Pennella, 14, is a freshman at A.G. West Black Hills High School. She enjoys participating in diving, dancing and DECA.
