2013 Maritime Poster Westport wineryWestport Winery earned three medals for their unique sparkling wines at the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition. This event, the largest American wine competition in the world, boasted a record 6300 entries this year. Wines were evaluated and rated at the Cloverdale Citrus Fair the first week of January.

Maritime, the winery’s sparkling Muscat with grapes from Upland Vineyards in the Snipes Mountain AVA earned a gold medal. This year’s new vintage of this wine includes blueberry and pomegranate along with the Muscat. A portion of the proceeds from this wine benefits the Northwest Carriage Museum in Raymond. The label for this wine was painted by Blain Roberts’ surf partner Darryl Easter of Camarillo, California.

Both Boom Runner, the winery’s sparkling pomegranate wine, and Rapture of the Deep, their sparkling cranberry wine earned bronze medals. Boom Runner benefits Hoquiam’s Polson Museum. Rapture of the Deep benefits Aberdeen’s Driftwood Theater.

Each of these three sparkling wines is available for tasting daily at the winery along with thirty-two other wines, three hard ciders and their one non-alcohol Riesling grape juice.

Westport Winery and Vineyards By-the-Sea with the unique outdoor sculpture garden, lavender labyrinth, musical fence, 9-hole executive golf course, giant chess set, outdoor scrabble game, and grape maze, is located on the corner of Highway 105 and South Arbor Road halfway between Aberdeen and Westport. Westport Winery was named Best Northwest Wine Destination and Washington Winery to Watch.

Westport’s award-winning wines are exclusively available at the winery.

The tasting room, gift shop, plant nursery and bakery are open daily from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The restaurant is open for lunch daily from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and for dinner on Friday and Saturday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Brunch is served every Sunday from 11 a.m. 4 p.m. There is a Backstage Winemaker’s Tour every Saturday and Sunday at 1 p.m.
