Close to home but a world away, the Red Lion makes for a perfect romantic staycation spot.

After the dark days of winter, Valentine’s Day is a welcome splash of brightness. With colors heralding the cherry blossoms of spring, it’s a holiday custom-made to cheer even the gloomiest of souls…but that could be the chocolate talking.

In 2014, total Valentine’s spending was an estimated $17 billion, according to the National Retail Federation. Said NRF President Matthew Shay, “Valentine’s Day will continue to be a popular gift-giving event, even when consumers are frugal with their budgets. This is the one day of the year when millions find a way to show their loved ones they care.”

With many budgets still tight and consumers wary of how they spend, why not consider a romantic staycation this year? With a simple call to the Olympia Red Lion, you could stay in a gorgeous—but close to home—hotel, enjoy a delicious four course dinner, and return to champagne and chocolate-covered strawberries in your room.

This romantic package, priced at $199, is available for only Saturday night, February 14. Red Lion Director of Sales Jeff Bowe explains that this is “the first time in many years” they’ve offered a Valentine’s special. With the holiday falling on a Saturday, this makes for a perfect romantic escape on any budget.

Schedule booked for Valentine’s weekend? Consider a date night on Saturday, February 21 instead. The Red Lion has packages available in conjunction with the Clint Black concert at the nearby Washington Center for the Performing Arts, a concert sure to put the spring back in your step.

Country music fans can choose between two options for the evening. If you’ve purchased your show tickets already, ask about the Red Lion’s Dinner and Room package where for $129 you’ll receive the best of both as well as complementary shuttle service to the venue. For $249, you can enjoy an overnight stay, dinner for two at the hotel’s West Water Restaurant, two tickets to the Clint Black concert, and free shuttle service.

Packages and events at the Red Lion sell out quickly, so don’t wait to book yours. You can ask about availability and details by calling 360-943-4000 or dropping by their gorgeous 2300 Evergreen Park Drive Southwest location. With views over Capitol Lake and our stunning mountain vistas, it’s well worth the trip.

Cartoonist Charles M. Schultz once said “All you need is love. But a little chocolate now and then doesn’t hurt.” Trust me when I say that the best chocolate also involves strawberries, champagne, and maid service the next day.
