To celebrate its 30th anniversary year, the Friendship Force of Olympia is sponsoring travel author and TV personality Rick Steves. He will speak at the Washington Center for the Performing Arts at 7:00 pm, Saturday, September 20, 2014.

His topic is “Changing the Way You See the World.”  Rick Steves believes that thoughtful travel expands our world view and shapes how we address the challenges confronting our nation.  Rick shares how his social activism has grown naturally out of his travel experiences.  He’s fresh back from travels and will be on hand after his talk for questions and autographs.

Tickets are available at www.olytix.org or at 753-8586.  Prices are $26 for adults; $22 for seniors 50+, military and students; some seats $13.  All prices include the $3 WCPA service fee.

Benefits of Travel and Friendship Force

Rick Steves says the biggest benefit of travel is a broader perspective.  Friendship Force agrees and adds that seeing the world and ourselves through the eyes of an international friend is a fun way to get a broader perspective.

Since 1984 Friendship Force has become a secret agent in Olympia, quietly hosting families from afar and visiting in the homes of club members in 60 countries around the world.   In recent years we have hosted new friends from Mexico, Indonesia, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and Canada.  In recent years, local members have traveled to New Zealand, the Netherlands, Romania and Turkey.

We’re welcoming new members.  For membership information, click here or call 459-5728.
