Thursday is another day packed with events, entertainment and fun for the whole herd at the Thurston County Fair. Thursday is Kid’s Day at the fair, and that means you can save with the whole herd when you celebrate summer with Sammy Steer!

Thursday, July 31 is the return of Kid’s Day when admission for kids ages 5 to 14 is just $2. Admission for kids age 5 and under is always free at the fair. July 31 is also Buddy Day, when you can get two carnival ride armbands for $24 if you and a buddy are both present at the time of purchase (no advance purchase available for Buddy Day special). The fair is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Thursday, July 31.

Thursday, July 31 is also the start of the Dessert of the Day contests, kicking off with the deliciously decadent Chocolate Cake Contest. All chocolate varieties are welcome… and encouraged! Bring your chocolate cake entry to the Thurston Expo Center between noon and 2 p.m. and get free admission to the fair for the day. All entries must include the recipe with contestant’s name, address, and phone number. Check the 2014 Exhibitor’s Guide for all of the Dessert of the Day contest rules at www.ThurstonCountyFair.org/exhibitor_guide.htm.

Thursday, July 31 is packed full of activities and entertainment for the whole family. More than 50 events, contests and performances are scheduled—dancing, music, art, animals, and much more. (Complete July 31 events schedule below.)

For more information about these events and other fair entertainment, go to www.ThurstonCountyFair.org and click on “Daily Events Calendar.”
