Visitors to the market will stroll through more than 60 booths of eclectic offerings, locally harvested foods, bakery treats, and repurposed treasures.
The theme of Saturday’s market is Yard and Garden Day and guest speakers will be on hand to provide expert advice. Beginning at 11:00 a.m., Joan Hurst from G & H Pastured Poultry will explain the ins and outs of raising chickens in an urban environment. At 12:00 noon, renowned plant expert Kellie Peterson from Gordon’s Garden Center will show how to create traffic- stopping, fender-bending potted plant displays. Finally, Mary Corso from Courtyard Antiques will be on stage with her paint brushes at 1:00 p.m. demonstrating how to repurpose old furniture into new garden pieces with the use of chalk paint.
In addition to unique vendors, great food, and expert advice, the Lacey Community Market also offers free activities for children, plenty of nearby parking, and a pet-friendly atmosphere. New this year is Zumba in the Park, beginning at 2:00 p.m.!
The Lacey Community Market is held every second Saturday in the summer at the beautiful Huntamer Park, just off College Street SE at 7th Avenue SE in Lacey. Market dates this year are July 12, August 9, and September 13. New vendors are welcome. More information can be found on the city’s official website at www.ci.lacey.wa.us/market.
