The State Capital Museum, housed in the historic Lord Mansion, is closed for renovations until further notice. The renovations include new carpet and an updated kitchen, among other improvements to the historic facility.
The Museum, operated by the Washington State Historical Society, will not be available for public visits or school field trips, and the mansion will not be available for rentals. However, the rich selection of public programs in the Coach House of the mansion will continue without interruption, and the Coach House and museum grounds, both popular venues, will still be available for rental.
“We have a responsibility to maintain the State Capital Museum facility and preserve the integrity of the Lord Mansion,” explains Susan Rohrer, State Capital Museum Manager. “And while that means that the museum will be closed, we’re excited that our programs will continue during the closure.”
