Lanessa Inman joins the YWCA as Girls Advancement Director

The YWCA of Olympia is pleased to announce that Lanessa Inman has joined the organization as Girls Advancement Director. She will oversee several programs including Girls Without Limits!, Girls Circle, and Girls For A Change as part of the agency’s mission to empower girls and women through education, advocacy and leadership opportunities.

Lanessa previously spent eight years in public service with the Washington State Department of Ecology’s Water Resources Program, where she provided community education and outreach for some of the state’s water conservation and watershed planning endeavors. More recently, she held the Community Project Director position at Alaffia, an Olympia based fair trade body care company, where she represented the company’s gender equality and community empowerment projects in Togo, West Africa.

“In previous work I had the privilege to represent initiatives with both a statewide and global focus. I am thrilled to have received this opportunity with YWCA of Olympia, where I can now focus my efforts on empowering young women here in my local community. I believe the impact we make in our own neighborhoods and cities is a crucial key to accomplishing social change.”

Lanessa, an Olympia native, makes her home with her husband and son on their 30-acre sustainable farm in south Thurston County.
