olympia memory careNoted American director and producer Ben Hecht once said that “time is a circus, always packing up and moving away.”  But while ageing is inevitable, everyone loves a good party!  And Garden Courte Memory Center celebrates in the truest spirit of circus king P.T. Barnum: “The noblest art is that of making others happy.”

Garden Courte (626 Lilly Rd. NE, Olympia) is a Memory Care Community specializing in residential Alzheimer’s care.  Their facility offers living space with restaurant-style dining, walking paths, music and activity rooms, and an on-site beauty salon and barber shop.  They host a variety of enrichment activities like gardening, exercise classes, games, cultural events, outings, guest speakers, educational programming, and pastoral care.  One of the highlights of the year is their annual Garden Party to raise funds for the Thurston County Alzheimer’s Council.

This is the fifteenth year for their Garden Party event.  The theme varies annually, with this year’s being “Under the Big Top” and featuring carnival games, snow cones, cotton candy, and an Entertainment Explosion on Friday, August 2 from 3-6pm.  Gift basket raffles will be held every 15 minutes with all proceeds benefitting the Alzheimer’s Council.  Raffle tickets cost $1 each.

They also accept non-perishable food items to benefit Senior Services for South Sound (www.southsoundseniors.org) as part of their ‘Meals on Wheels’ food drive.  Donated food and supplies are then donated to local seniors in need.

As a valued and valuable part of the Olympia community, Garden Courte opens its doors to anyone.  They help students, families, and seniors in need and the upcoming “Under the Big Top” Garden Party promises to be a high point for one and all.  As actor David Niven once said, “Keep the circus going inside you, keep it going, don’t take anything too seriously, it’ll all work out in the end.”

Please RSVP for the event by July 30 by calling (360) 491-4435.  There is no charge to attend the event and everyone is welcome.
