When the Hands On Children’s Museum (HOCM) opens their doors on Sunday, families will be treated to more than just an immense amount of active play space.  Visit HOCM on Sunday June 2 between 11:00 am – 3:00 pm to participate in the Children’s Health Fair.

In partnership with the Child Care Action Council (CCAC), the Museum and many health care related organizations are providing loads of educational resources and information about affordable health care and raising healthy kids.

As leaders in touch with young families, the partnership to produce the event seemed natural.

“There is no reason that any Washington State child should not have medical insurance,” says Annie Cubberly, Executive Director of CCAC.  “There are lots of reasons that families may be uninsured – too much paperwork, ‘we aren’t really that poor.’”

Families that pre-register for the Children’s Health Fair receive free access to the Museum.

“It’s a great day to visit the Museum and get a wide variety of health care information,” explains Cubberly.  Medical and dental insurance providers will be onsite to provide details on free and low cost insurance.

Parents can also talk with representatives of South Sound Parent to Parent regarding assessments.  “Folks can find loads of resources about education, health care, child care,” says Cubberly when describing the wide variety of information that will be available during the event.

Two concerts, by Nancy Stewart, are planned during the event.

While supplies last, families can receive a free bike helmet from Safe Kids Thurston County.
