On March 30, the Tenino grade school hosted a fishing clinic to teach 28 youngsters about the joys of fishing. Students learned a multitude of skills that they will utilize for years to come. Stations were setup to teach students about: spinners, tying jigs, tying yarn balls, hevi beads and otter eggs, hook and knot tying, casting, fish identification, different rigging demos and how to cure eggs – shrimp.

The local fishing experts also spent time with the kids talking about safety and fishing etiquette. At the completion of the class, each student received fishing hats, fishing poles and tackle. The class was supported by numerous sponsors who donated items from across the West Coast.

Local Thurston County sponsors that made the above a reality include Cabelas, Vision Hooks, Kramer Tackle, Ezeggs, Sunbirds and Puget Sound Energy.
