On February 7, 2013, three of Westport Winery’s recent releases earned medals at the 25th Annual Florida State Fair International Wine Competition in Tampa. Westport’s new Rapture of the Deep, their 100% sparkling cranberry wine, earned this West Coast winery a double gold medal. This is the second time this wine has brought home this honor. The first double gold was in 2011 from the Washington State Wine Awards. A portion of the proceeds of this wine benefits Aberdeen’s Driftwood Players.

The winery’s most popular creation, Duckleberry Grunt, earned a silver medal at this competition. This exciting blend of Gewurztraminer, blueberry and huckleberry is always wrapped in camouflage tissue since it’s so popular you want to hide it from your friends. This wine benefits Grays Harbor Duck Unlimited.

Dawn Patrol, the winery’s delightful raspberry Riesling, brought home a bronze medal. With a portion of the proceeds from this wine benefitting the Westport VFW in working with returning veterans, the winery is pleased to offer these contributions to those who serve.

These wines competed against over 1000 entries from other wineries around the world. It is a highlight of the business for the winery’s Roberts family to bring honors home to Grays Harbor. These award-winning wines, along with 33 others, are available for tasting daily at Westport Winery from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and until 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday evenings.

Westport Winery, Restaurant, Bakery and Nursery are open daily at 11a.m. The winery is open for lunch daily from 11 am. to 4 pm. and for dinner on Friday and Saturday evenings from 4 p.m. to 8.p.m. The winery with its unique grape maze, extraordinary outdoor sculpture and display gardens is located on the corner of Highway 105 and South Arbor Road halfway between Westport and Aberdeen.
