Earlier this week, we celebrated with many other local businesses at the Best Of Olympia award ceremony, hosted by The Weekly Volcano and Lucky Eagle Casino.  What a wonderful treat to be voted “Best Website” by our ThurstonTalk readers.  (You can read more about my humble musings here.)  Beyond a public celebration with the community, the ThurstonTalk team has been sharing emails acknowledging the recognition.

Our writers live, work and play in Thurston County and are passionate about sharing the positive things happening around town.  Thanks, readers, for recognizing our hard work and showing your appreciation.  In exchange, we’ll keep hammering out the positive stories about people, businesses, and organizations.

Here are your favorites from this week:

Olympic Cards and Comics – A Different Kind of Community Center

Gabi Shephard has clearly impacted many lives.  This article profiles her business, Olympic Cards and Comics, and the important role it plays in our community.  You will be impressed with her sincere focus on customer service.

Flying M Stables Always Honoring Roger Musgrove

Prepare to be touched by heartfelt expressions of love for Roger Musgrove.  When he passed away three years ago, his family circled together to keep the stables open.  February 23 marked the third annual Roger Musgrove Memorial Ride.  Read more about how Sandie Pearson remembers her father.

Fiesta! Celebrating National Margarita Day With Mexican Food In Olympia

Who doesn’t love a good article about margaritas?  While I am jealous that Mary Ellen Pslatis wrote the article from her vacation beach chair in Mexico, it was entertaining to tag onto a “holiday” that is easy to celebrate.  Heck, just because the “official day” is over, nothing says you can’t mix up a delicious cocktail and call it National Margarita Day today.
