On a blustery, wet day, I am thankful for the liquid sunshine provided by Mary Ellen Psaltis’ margarita article.  While I’m not sipping a cool beverage (yet!), her recipe and description of how to make the best margaritas brings some instant relief to winter weather in Washington.  The weekend forecast doesn’t look too promising for outdoor activities but luckily we have some great articles focused on indoor fun this weekend.  Whether it’s margaritas or a warm blanket, I hope you find your liquid sunshine this weekend.

  • Roll a bowling ball at Aztec Lanes.  Loads of fun is happening at the bowling alley, especially on Friday nights.
  • Catch a high school basketball game.  The state basketball tournaments kick up in intensity this weekend.  The Yelm girls team is one of the teams advancing in the tournament.
  • Watch a performance of “Is There Life After High School” by the Olympia School District players to benefit the OSD Education Foundation.
  • Get wet indoors at one of our local swimming pools.
  • Visit the Hands On Children’s Museum and get a free dental exam for your child.  Small to Tall Pediatric Dentistry is coordinating check-ups from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm.
  • Fly a paper airplane at the Olympic Flight Museum on Saturday from 1:00 – 3:30 pm.
  • Attend Pie Fest at the Olympia Center from 1:00 – 3:30 pm.  Sample tasty pies and support the Food Bank.
  • Cheer for your favorite South Puget Sound Community College culinary student.  A Top Chef-style competition will be held at Bayview School of Cooking on Saturday at 6:00 pm.
  • Celebrate a beloved Tumwater resident at Flying M Stables on Saturday during the Roger Musgrove Memorial Ride.
  • Dig razor clams on Saturday or Sunday.  Look at snowy owls while you are in Ocean Shores.
  • Sign your favorite middle school girl up for this cool math and science conference.  Registration closes on Sunday.
  • Plan an Olympia staycation.
