LACEY, WA, November 29, 2012: The Lacey Parks and Recreation department invites you to celebrate the season with some great — and free!— holiday traditions, including festive music, tree lighting, and visits with Santa.

South Sound Community Orchestra Holiday Concert

Bring the family and enjoy a free holiday concert on Tuesday, December 4, from 7:00 to 8:15 p.m. at the Lacey Community Center, 6729 Pacific Avenue SE. Performances will be given by the South Sound Community Orchestra and the Rose Garden Choir. All ages will enjoy this festive concert, which is sure to get you in the holiday spirit.

Lighting of the Christmas Trees

An old-fashioned tree lighting ceremony begins at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 6, at Huntamer Park in Woodland Square (just off College Street at 7th Avenue SE). The event features music by the Chinook Middle School Jazz Band, caroling with the Komachin Middle School Choir, hot cocoa and popcorn, an animated holiday display, and a special appearance by Santa and his helpers aboard the Santa Mobile.

Signing Santa

Hearing-impaired children will have a chance to communicate their wishes to a Santa that speaks their language on Friday, December 7, from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. at Chambers Prairie Elementary School, 6501 Virginia Street SE. It’s an opportunity for children to gather and see the spirit of giving, seek new friends, and promote awareness of the deaf community. All children attending will enjoy a visit with Santa, a toy, and fun. This program is co-sponsored by the Signing Santa organization. Visit www.signingsanta.org, or call Lacey Parks & Recreation at (360) 491-0857, for more information.
