Capital Playhouse is pleased to announce their selection of Lauren O’Neill as Managing Director. Ms. O’Neill brings with her a wealth of experience in the Theatre Arts community, both artistic and administrative. A graduate of The Evergreen State College in 2002, Ms. O’Neill has remained in Olympia to pursue her fervent dedication to arts education and development. Moving forward, Capital Playhouse is committed to continuing to promote excellence in musical theatre education, production and performance while striving to honor the legacy of those who have contributed so much, creating a strong foundation and a proud tradition.  Capital Playhouse is deeply thankful for the support of the community and our patrons, volunteers, parents and donors, all of whom make our mission possible; we are also indebted to the hard work and generous spirit of our staff. We are confident that Lauren will bring positive energy, creativity, and expertise to her new role and be a significant contributor to ensuring future success.

Created in 1986, Capital Playhouse is a private non-profit performing arts education and performance organization located in Olympia, Washington. Now in its 26th year, Capital Playhouse operates year round, with seven of eight separate and distinct performance and education programs designed specifically for youth. Located in the downtown business community, the Playhouse has a 121-seat black box theater on site. Programs include Season in a Box, the Playhouse’s musical theatre series for older youth and adults which occurs between October and May in the black box theater; academic year Saturday Performing Arts Classes; the Page to Stage Theatre-Literacy Program; Students on Stage, an after-school musical theatre program offered in partnership with area schools; Kids in Koncert, the northwest’s premier youth concert and performance choir; and Tykes, a summer program for youth ages 5-7. The largest program, KIDS AT PLAY, is a comprehensive musical theatre and performance program with a summer stock model that serves youth between the ages of 8 and 17 that has been an important part of Capitol Playhouse since the beginning. To date, numerous area youth have sung, danced and acted in nearly one hundred KIDS AT PLAY productions.
