Distinguished Leader Awards Honor Belmonte, Clarkson, and Pumphrey

Leadership Thurston County (LTC) and the Thurston County Chamber Foundation are proud to announce the 2013 Distinguished Leader Award honorees. PATTY BELMONTE, Executive Director of the Hands On Children’s Museum, VIRGIL CLARKSON, Mayor of the City of Lacey, and DR. GERALD PUMPHREY, President of South Puget Sound Community College, will be recognized at the event on Wednesday, February 20, 2013.
 
Presented by WEST COAST BANK, the 12th annual leadership celebration will be held at Saint Martin’s University Norman Worthington Center. The evening begins with a reception at 5:30 p.m. followed by dinner and the program at 6:30 p.m.
 
The event honors leaders who demonstrate outstanding initiative, inspire others and make a significant impact in our community and beyond. Honorees will be recognized through live and multi-media presentations.
 
This year’s honorees are community builders who respect the power of partnerships, lead by example, and are committed to making the South Sound region a great place to live. Through their leadership, they have enriched the lives of present and future generations of Thurston County residents.
 
Patty Belmonte is being recognized for her vision in making the new Hands On Children’s Museum a reality and her passion for providing unique learning opportunities for children and families.
 
Mayor Virgil Clarkson is being recognized for his lifetime of leadership as a public official, social activist, and dedicated volunteer and board member with a number of civic organizations.
 
Dr. Gerald Pumphrey is being recognized for his contributions to SPSCC and the broader South Sound community through his ability to forge economic and educational partnerships and reach out to all generations.
