Learn to play the ukulele in one short session. “The Ukalaliens,” Kate Power and Steve Einhorn, are professional folksingers, songwriters and teachers of the ukulele. They’ll bring their simple and entertaining method, lifelong experience, and a trunk full of Kala ukuleles to teach the uninitiated how to play and sing.

The workshop will be held at the Yelm Timberland Library on Wednesday, October 10 from 6 to 7:15 p.m. The program is free of charge. About 30 loaner ukes will be available for the classes, first come, first served. Those who have their own ukuleles are invited to bring them along.

Power and Einhorn have been featured artists on Garrison Keillor’s “A Prairie Home Companion.” They are nationally touring concert musicians whose aim is to share the basics of making beautiful music from the beginning in a way that builds confidence and community. “Music self-played is happiness self-made,” is the Ukalaliens’ motto.
