Site #4, Inspiration Home, on the 2012 Thurston Solar Tour

Scott Homes is collecting clean, cold weather clothes at their site during this Saturday’s Thurston Solar Tour. The Inspiration Home site is #4 on the free solar tour, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on September 29.

Over $1,100 in donations were collected for the Salvation Army in Olympia when the Inspiration Home opened this summer for the Olympia Master Builders’ Tour of Homes. Now that colder weather is creeping closer, people are sorting through their sweaters and fleeces. Scott Homes asks if you have any spare, clean hats, coats, socks, disposable handwarmers, scarves, slippers, etc., for any gender, any age, kindly drop them by 1402 13th Ave SE, Olympia, Saturday during the Solar Tour between 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.  The clothes will be delivered directly to Salvation Army and distributed in our local area.

“Small acts make a big difference,” says Scott Bergford, owner of Scott Homes, Inc. “If you’ve got socks you never use because they’re too warm or fit you funny, bring them. They don’t do anyone any good sitting in a drawer. (Boy! I sound like my mother!) Warm, dry socks are a small thing that can make a big difference.”

With or without spare socks, the public is welcome at the Inspiration Home site and all 18 other Thurston Solar Tour sites this Saturday, September 29 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
