Pam Folsom, founder of Olympia-based Folsom Public Relations, is leading a new communications division for Shea Carr Jewell (SCJ). SCJ is a full-service consulting and professional services firm with an emphasis on engineering and planning. They have offices in three states.

Folsom continues to serve previous Folsom PR clients through the new SCJ Communications. “Top quality, client centered service has always been my focus. Shea Carr Jewell is committed to these same core values,” Folsom said. “I am excited about SCJ’s energy and entrepreneurial attitude. I can’t begin to tell you the talent I’ve found myself surrounded by.”

“Shea Carr Jewell is always looking forward — looking for new opportunities, new geographic markets and new technical disciplines to enhance client services,” said Perry Shea. “This new business line is another example of that.” In the last two years Shea Carr Jewell has acquired a community planning and environmental services firm and an engineering specialties group to bolster their competitive edge and market penetration.

For 25 years Folsom has been helping associations, government agencies and businesses tell their stories. She uses traditional and new approaches that include press releases, events, newsletters, blogs, speakers’ bureaus and social networking. Folsom also helps clients with public outreach campaigns and marketing materials.  “I work with clients to first clarify their message and then find the most effective ways to communicate it to targeted markets,” Folsom said.

“One of Pam’s specialties is her ability to understand complex issues and simplify them so they are easy to understand,” said SCJ Principal Jean Carr. “Her experiences have honed her abilities to build bridges and communicate respectfully and effectively with people and organizations representing all perspectives. These are skills that will benefit our clients.”

Folsom agreed. “Combining my experience, skills and relationships with SCJ’s resources is a recipe for success across all SCJ business lines.”

Shea Carr Jewell was founded in 2006 by Perry Shea, Jean Carr, and Bob Jewell. They are a full-service consulting and professional services firm which today has over 35 employees. SCJ was founded on providing comprehensive engineering, transportation and planning services to a wide range of clients. In addition to their headquarters in Olympia, WA the firm has offices in Wenatchee, WA, Westminster, CO and Boise, ID.

Shea Carr Jewell’s remarkable growth over the last six years has landed them on both the 2010 and 2011 Hot Firms List created by The Zweig Letter which evaluates firms throughout the United States and Canada. They were also named the 2009 Small Business of the Year by the Thurston EDC and were ranked 13th nationally on the Civil Engineering News 2010 Best Firms to Work For list.
