Thurston Economic Development Council – Executive director Michael Cade was recognized by Leadership Thurston County – part of the Thurston County Chamber foundation as one of their distinguished leaders for 2012.

The awards banquet, which drew roughly 300 from the local business community to Saint Martin’s University’s Worthington Center, is an annual highlight of Leadership Thurston County’s 10-month training program, which has produced 450 graduates in its 20 years.

Cade, known in the community for his inclusive leadership style has a track record of success in tackling community and economic development initiatives that have positively impacted the region.  For the past eight years with Michael at the helm, the EDC has retained local businesses and attracted new investment to Thurston County, while ensuring emerging businesses have access to the resources they need to succeed. A robust resource portfolio is now in place that includes government contracting support, energy efficiency assistance, business counseling and manufacturing assistance.
