It’s no secret that Oly loves its artists. Avid readers may notice that Thurston Talk has reported frequently on different street fairs, plays, and gallery showings in the Olympia, and with good reason. There is always something arts-centric going on in the area.

Friday and Saturday (October 7th and 8th) is the Fall Olympia Arts Walk. Not to be confused with its Springtime cousin, the Fall Arts Walk is the second of the two renowned semi-annual arts walks that the city hosts each year.

While the autumn installment does not have a Procession of the Species, hundreds of local businesses, galleries and theaters open their doors and display the amazing work of local artists, crafters and performers from all over the area.

There are events of all types that you can catch on a casual jaunt downtown from plays to performances by crowd-rallying local bands and dance troupes.

Here are some previews of what you can expect to find on Friday:

Located at the top of Capitol Way, the Hands On Children’s Museum is one of the best places in Thurston County to spend a day with the kids. The two thousand plus square foot facility is filled with interactive play toys, educational gizmos, and local kid-friendly art pieces that decorate the walls.

The Make Olympia Street Market: 5PM on Washington Street
