Local Farmers Selling Organic Produce at Area Convenience Stores

OLYMPIA – Healthier foods will be available at two area convenience stores under a Thurston County Public Health and Social Services project.  County Health is working on the project with the Washington State Department of Health and Harry’s Market at 1613 College Street in Lacey and Lucky 7 Food Store at 1026 4th Avenue East in Olympia.

The project is named the Thurston County Healthy Retail Stores Project.  One of the stores, Lucky 7 Food Store, has partnered with two local farmers – Left Foot Organics of Olympia and Rising River Farm of Rochester.  Beginning this month fresh organic produce will be available for purchase at Lucky 7 Food Store.  Left Foot Organics will be selling produce inside the store starting on July 11, 2011. Rising River Farm will have a one-day-a-week Farm Stand in the parking lot beginning on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 from 3 pm – 6 pm and continuing at the same time on Wednesdays.
