Saturday April 30th: This weekend, the CIELO Project is having a celebration and fundraiser at the Olympia Theater (206 5th Ave. Olympia, WA 98501). The show kicks off at 7PM with Celso Duarte, a Paraguayan-Mexican harpist. Him and his sextet will be providing an evening of entertainment with amazing Latin music. The proceeds from this event will be used to help fund English, GED and literacy classes at the CIELO Projects’ Radio Ranch. A facility for Latino youth to help foster cultural pride, and help their families receive healthcare and access to quality education. Saturday April 30th: Get your paddles up and ready! The 2011 Saint Martin’s University Dragon Boat Festival will be held at Port Plaza in Budd Inlet (Columbia St. Olympia WA 98501) on Saturday. The opening ceremony commences at 9 AM. In addition to the boat races, there will be traditional Chinese art demonstrations, lion dances, music, and martial arts performances!
Sunday May 1st: In the mood for seafood? This Sunday, head on down to the Fishtale Brewery (515 Jefferson St. Olympia, WA 98501) for their Shellfish Slurp! There will be shellfish eating contests, live entertainment provided by the Burren Boys, a live auction, and of course great food. Tickets for this event cost $50 if purchased online and $60 if purchased at the door. Your ticket covers your meal, the shellfish slurp, an assortment of house wines, the oyster bar, and the live auction. All of the proceeds will go towards benefiting the PCSGA’s (Pacific Shellfish Grower’s Association) Shellfish Habitat Restoration Fund.
