Olympia’s Annual Spring Recycle Days : Press Release

Olympia’s Annual Spring Recycle Days is scheduled for Tuesday, April 19 through Friday, April 22, 2011. City crews will pick up scrap metal, metal appliances (such as ranges, washing machines, and hot water tanks), car tires off the rim, porcelain toilets and sinks, and extra cardboard for FREE.

Available to City of Olympia Residential Garbage Customers Only

The service is provided to residential customers inside the city limits that are on City of Olympia municipal garbage service.  Items should be placed near your regular garbage pick-up spot by 6:00 a.m. on your regular recycle collection day only.  The material recycled from this annual event saves resources. According to the EPA’s greenhouse gas equivalency calculator, the material collected last year saved energy equivalent to 25,000 gallons of gasoline, or enough electricity to power 30 homes for one year.

How we Collect Your Items

Please be patient, because different trucks will pick up different items at different times throughout the day.  Residents should also set out their recycling carts as usual. Please note: we can’t take refrigerators, plastic products, wood, yard waste, hazardous waste, electronics, TVs, microwaves, or other small household appliances.
